Initial site visit and consultation:
The first meeting is a chance to talk about the garden as it is, and desires for the future.
It is a good idea to collect pictures and ideas that you find attractive to help indicate
your thoughts. Joanna’s portfolio is also available for viewing. Site visits within Surrey
are free. Beyond the county boundary it is subject to expenses to cover travel costs only.
This comes from the first meeting and discussion. The meeting enables Joanna to understand
the client's needs in full so that she can give you a quote for the initial design work.
The brief reflects the initial meeting providing all the relevant information for the design
work. It can be altered at any time.
On confirmation of appointment Joanna will return to measure and survey the garden, take
photos and levels. If a garden is very complex then a land surveyor may be required.
The masterplan together with sketches and cross sections will illustrate the proposals.
This is a chance to reflect on the requirements and possibly refine ideas. Once the plan
is agreed a layout plan is prepared and copies provided for quotes.
Planting plan and specification:
Once the planting areas are defined it is possible to quote for providing planting plans.
Soil samples are taken and together with the survey information a planting plan of
appropriate plants can be prepared. The plan shows you where and what to plant. A plant
specification lists all the plants in size and number required.
Construction firms can be recommended. Joanna works closely with a number of local firms
that can be recommended for the construction. She is also happy to guide clients who wish
to build themselves or use their own contractors.
Joanna can project manage the scheme from setting out to completion. This is done through
regular site visits with the contractors and ensuring high standards are achieved.
Planting and maintenance:
Joanna can provide the plants she specifies and provide a planting & maintenance service.
